Firstly, there is (or used to be) variety in HA. Some people ran hex pressure, some ran condition pressure, some ran heavy shutdown, some ran builds that focused on physicals and some ran caster pressure builds. In fact, most of the rank10+ people I know and used to know got most of their fame running strong balanced builds that easily destroyed the metas when played properly. Secondly, what's so bad about running meta? The point of the hero title is to show how experienced you are in HA, so that when you're pugging for people you have something to judge them by other than their word. If you got your r10+ running bspike or iway (hi MATH) obviously you ran it properly and understood the skill and game mechanics, communicated well with your groups and so on. Yes, there may be people who have a high rank and are completely hopeless but they would be a minority.

Wrong, there are far too many R10+ players who've never played gimmick builds to disprove your assumptions. If you're a core member in a high end HA/GvG guild and that guild performs well on a regular basis then obviously it says something about your individual skill (or that of the other 7 players). Even so, there would be many players who pugged or flisted their fame.

If you're talking about the hero title then obviously they're good. A R10 Bspiker will be good at playing HA running Bspike. Similarly, a R10 balanced player will be good at playing HA running balanced, and know how to beat bspike, but not necessarily good themselves at running it.

It's simply indicative of your experience. And it's hardly comparable to a PvE title.. fail.

EDIT: I misunderstood the use of the world "useless" in the title. An actually useless title would be one that doesn't grant you anything extra or represent anything about you. Perhaps the SS title.

without it, My sunspear skill's wouldnt be as effective as they are now,
therefore my farming builds wouldn't work as good as they do now,

But here's a thought, I want a little icon up the top left of the screen like the Lightbringer title that gives some kind of bonus. What's the point of having a R10 SS title when Lightbringer R8 has an icon with some barely noticable bonus effects.

"Sunspear"

All Kournan Damage is reduced by 2.....45% plus an additional 2% for every Sunspear title you have earnt.
(or something similar to that)

That way Sunspear wouldnt be just a title that says COMMON.

Oh, so true. I guess there really isn't a "useless" title.

Gamer, IMO. Doesn't give any benefits as far as I know, other than being another way to tell you've spent too much time logged in. XD

The name could use a change, but I like the fact that it's like an opposite of Survivor. Survivor, exp without dying. LDoA, exp with dying.

As for most useless, for me it's Sweet Tooth. It just feels utterly pointless to have Sugar Rushs inside towns.

Clearly unlucky is the most useless title. It does nothing, and it's virtually impossible to max.....

So you would rather spend hours grinding than having a game that makes you think as well as challanges you? You already stated you used UB for your titles as with the 95% rest of people thats why their worthless as well as your lack of skill complete them with a challange. If you were playing pong everyones paddle would be the same size as the enemies, yours would be the same size as the level, time = not fun in the context that if it only takes time to complete then whats the point? You can show how much of a life you have with those titles and thats about it. But then again you got your
e-peen so you can move along. Tell your friends at school how people tell you in a video game how cool you are while your at it.

Dont kid yourself, using UB = Domination. If you cant use UB and win then well... go back to faction farming. I'd like to ask you, what does the title give you? A sense of accomplishment? For doing practically the same thing for hours on end... on end ........ on end?

oh god, not this debate again.
"titles suck!"
"no they don't"
"noob!"
"no ur a nub!"

we can all agree that titles are really just something to show your epeen. in terms of what is actually "USEful" that would only include sunspear/lightbringer and the gwen titles, minus master of the north. that's it. close thread.

This post is what 99% of gw players think now and you wonder why people quit the game.

Geez, who pissed in your cheerios? Someone makes a positive post and you impart negativity on it.

Anyway, my award for the most useless title goes to Connoisseur of Confectionaries. At least Drunkard requires more thought than clicking.

you were speaking of people quitting in present tense, not past. let's douse that little flame, shall we?

The statement contained no tense, why people quit the game = could be present or past. If I told you how I meant it and you still change it back then clearly my first question went unanswered for a reason.

ok cupcake, you go do your thing.

it seems to me that the terms "useless" and "easiest to get" are being interchanged a lot. makosi, you pointed out that sweet tooth is easier to get than drunkard and is therefore more useless. but neither of those titles actually DO anything for you, so they are both equally useless. unless you get some kind of bonus ingame from having such-and-such title, they are all useless. in terms of utility, only the titles i mentioned above have any real benefit.
oh, i did forget to mention those that affect salvages/lockpick retention. so add lucky, treasure hunter, and wisdom.
